No School for Students on Monday, November 3 (Parent/Teacher Conference Day) and Tuesday, November 4 (RCPS Teacher Inservice)
Important Updates!
Several important reports are coming home with your child. You’ll find their IXL (Math) and VALLS (Reading) progress reports, which show how they’re doing in Math and Reading. Report cards are also being sent home, giving you a full picture of your child’s progress this grading period.
Please take a few moments to review these reports together and sign up for a parent-teacher conference on November 3 if you haven’t already. Conferences are a great opportunity to discuss your child’s progress. Teachers will have further information regarding these reports to discuss, as well as give you ideas on how to reinforce what’s taught in class.

MES Title I School News (Spanish)
Each year RCPS students have the opportunity to participate in Family Life Education (FLE). Parents have the option to completely opt their student out of these materials OR parents have the option to opt their student out of only certain SOLs. If an Opt Out form is not returned to MES, the student will automatically be opted into this curriculum. The classroom teachers are responsible for teaching this curriculum in all elementary grades except for 4th and 5th grades. The Physical Education teachers are responsible for teaching the curriculum in grades 4 and 5.
The Family Life curriculum will be available to view hard copies for K-5 during Parent Teacher Conferences. The 4th and 5th grade FLE curriculum will also be available in electronic format as there are powerpoints and videos for this curriculum. Electronic links to each grade level’s curriculum and opt out forms can also be found below.
Please review the FLE curriculum materials via the links or during Conference night. Hard copy Opt Out forms will also be coming home with your student the week of 10/27/24. Please return all forms by 11/20/2025!

Duke Dog Reading Program is here! Students will have from today until February 21, 2026 to complete their reading requirements and earn their prizes! Student participants will be able to earn FREE tickets for the following events:
December 14, 2025 — Women's Basketball vs. Notre Dame
January 10, 2026 — Men's Basketball vs. Old Dominion
February 21, 2026 — Women's Basketball vs. App State
