Week #6- September 22, 2025

Math Matters!

At MES, students are building math skills by exploring numbers, solving problems, and finding patterns. Teachers also track student progress and use data to guide instruction, making sure each child gets the support they need to grow in math. By celebrating progress, big or small, we help students see how practice and persistence make a difference.

Math practice doesn’t have to feel like homework! You can make it fun by:

  • Practicing Math Facts: This helps students in all facets of math.

  • Asking simple math questions during daily routines (“If we have 8 apples and eat 3, how many are left?”).

  • Noticing shapes, patterns, or numbers on signs while driving or walking together.

  • Encouraging children to explain their thinking when solving problems; it builds deeper understanding.

A few minutes of math talk each day helps strengthen skills and shows kids that math is useful everywhere!

Attendance Tip/Reminder: Help your child build a strong routine by setting a regular bedtime and morning schedule. Children who get enough rest and have a calm start to their day are more likely to arrive at school on time, ready to learn! Consistent attendance makes a big difference in both academic success and friendships.
