“Every Page Counts: Growing Readers Together at Home and School”
One of the greatest gifts we can give children is the love of reading. Research shows that when students read at home with their families, even just a few minutes each day, they grow stronger as learners. At school, we are building skills and strategies, but at home, you have the power to make reading joyful, consistent, and meaningful. Together, we can nurture confident, curious readers.
Thank you for partnering with us in this important journey!
How you can help:
Make it Routine: Set aside 10–15 minutes each evening for reading. Consistency matters more than length.
Read Together: Take turns reading pages or have your child “teach” you by reading aloud.
Talk About Books: Ask questions like: What surprised you? Who was your favorite character? What do you think might happen next?
Be a Model: Let your child see you reading magazines, books, or even recipes. Kids copy what they see!
Create a Cozy Spot: A small basket of books and a comfy chair can make reading feel special.
Other Announcements/Reminders from the MES Office:
Please do not send in or bring food without having a conversation with the classroom teacher first. The teacher can advise you of known conditions and work together to make a plan. The school nurse may also be part of these conversations.
A safe transport to and from school is a vital, and sometimes overlooked, aspect of effective school operations. Please take some time to review the attached bus safety document with your school-aged children. Bus Safety Document
