Every Day Counts!!
Together, We Help Students Thrive
At MES, we strive to make sure every student is seen, heard, and valued using strategies that are meaningful, engaging, and supportive. We feel these are important characteristics to create the best possible learning experience for students.
When students are present every day, they’re able to fully participate in these experiences; building strong connections with teachers, forming friendships, and growing academically and socially. Even missing just a few days can mean missed opportunities for hands-on activities, group projects, and important lessons that lay the foundation for success.
How you can help:
Aim for on-time, daily attendance whenever possible.
Schedule appointments and travel outside of school hours when you can.
Talk with your child about the fun and engaging things happening at school so they look forward to being here each day.
Together, we can ensure that every child has the support, consistency, and connection they need to thrive. Thank you for partnering with us to make attendance — and learning — a top priority!
Other Announcements/Reminders from the MES Office:
Please do not send in or bring food without having a conversation with the classroom teacher first. The teacher can advise you of known conditions and work together to make a plan. The school nurse may also be part of these conversations.
A safe transport to and from school is a vital, and sometimes overlooked, aspect of effective school operations. Please take some time to review the attached bus safety document with your school-aged children. Bus Safety Document

MES has several opportunities for parents/guardians to represent MES on various committees and advisory groups. If you would like to know more about volunteering in this way, email Mr. Baker. (dbaker@rockingham.k12.va.us)
Attendance Tip/Reminder: “Every Day Counts!”
Help your child build a strong habit of attending school every day. Even missing just two days a month can add up to 20 missed school days in a year — that’s nearly a whole month of learning!
