Week #5- September 16, 2024
McGaheysville Elementary School has an outstanding team of dedicated staff who go above and beyond to support and inspire our students every day. The RCPS Inspire Award is a recognition program that honors the exceptional teachers and staff within our school community. To celebrate their hard work, we encourage you to submit an online submission form. When filling out the nomination form, please explain why you are nominating this teacher or staff member for the Inspire Award. Please include specific details and examples of how this person has inspired you or your child and is deserving of this recognition. (If your nomination is selected, this is what you will read publicly at the School Board meeting.) Use the following link to submit your nomination.
Next Thursday evening, September 26, 2024, MES staff will welcome students and families to the Fall Title I Literacy Family Engagement event. The Rock & Read themed-event will offer a variety of interactive activities for all ages and will kick off the school’s Rock Your School Day transformation day that will occur on Friday, September 27. Teachers will send home sign-up forms. The response forms assist the school with planning for the event. Click below to see the announcement and form.

Other Announcements/Reminders from the MES Office:
RCPS Division Leadership has requested that we share this reminder with families regarding student attendance at sporting events. All elementary and middle school students attending athletic events, including Friday night football games, must be accompanied by a parent or responsible adult. Students are not to be dropped off at games and picked up after the event.
Attendance Tip: Even when practicing good hygiene, illnesses tend to get passed in a school setting. Communication with the school nurse and common sense decision-making by families can help avoid a “bug” being passed through a class. Attendance is strongly encouraged, and incentivized, but teachers and school administrators understand when it is necessary to stay home. Students with an active fever and/or acute symptoms should stay home for the day.
